Tigers Sniff the Rose

尚公主 · Shàng Gōngzhǔ

Meng Ziyi (孟子义) plays Mu Wanyao (暮晚摇), Princess Danyang, sent from Chang'an to Lingnan, where a broken carriage axle on a mountain road puts her in the path of Yan Shang (言尚, Li Yunrui/李昀锐), a scholar from a poor family. With her backing he enters Chang'an and climbs the court; the two end up fighting its factions together. A 40-episode costume political romance on Tencent Video, directed by Qin Zhen (秦榛) and adapted from the Jinjiang web novel 《尚公主》 by Yi Ren Kuikui (伊人睽睽). The title is a pun worth knowing: 尚公主 is the classical phrase for a commoner marrying a princess, and 尚 is also the hero's given name.
