Shang Zhitao (尚之桃, Sun Qian) is a 北漂 — a Beijing drifter — and an ordinary 二本 graduate who unexpectedly lands a job at Lingmei (凌美), a Beijing advertising giant. On day one the sharp-tongued creative prodigy Luan Nian (栾念, Jing Boran) sets out to make her quit. She stays, grinds, and grows into a planning director who can 独当一面 — carry a brief alone — and the two fall into a six-year secret relationship. Misunderstanding and money push her to leave without a word and start her own business back home; years later they meet again on level ground.
